Rachel & Adam - NY Loft Wedding

We enjoy every wedding we photograph but Rachel & Adams' was especially unique because it was environmentally friendly! All the plates and utensils were 100 % compostable. Guests were encouraged to hang onto their glasses to cut down on waste, and all the leftover food was collected and composted as well. We love the idea of doing good while having a good time and this wedding certainly checked both those boxes.

After some nearby rain showers in the morning, the weather cleared up just in time for portraits along the banks of the Hudson River. This wedding was also very special because Rachel and Adam had plenty of personal touches - from a homemade Chuppah courtesy of Rachel's dad to a bottle of wine purchased the year Adam was born. It was hard to pick just a few highlights so here are a bunch of our favorite photos from the day!

Lida & Brandon - Upstate NY Engagement Photos

One of our favorite parts about wedding photography is that it allows us to meet so many wonderful people. Not only that, but we also get to be part of one of the most important moments in their lives. Sometimes though photography also lets us reconnect with old friends.

Lida and I have known each other for nearly two decades. We grew up in the same small town and have dozens of close mutual friends. So I was thrilled when she reached out asking Alicia and I to photograph her wedding.

Lida and her fiancee Brandon live in Portland, Oregon so we decided to meet up around Thanksgiving at her parent's house in upstate New York. Lida and Brandon actually met there over the summer when they were in college. Brandon was living in Burlington, Vermont and Lida would take the ferry across lake Champlain to visit him so, naturally, we finished our shoot on the deck of ferry. We narrowly avoided a threatening rain storm and braved icy winds on the lake but it was totally worth it.

Here are a few of our favorite photos from the shoot!
